PHARMACODYNAMICS

Tiltoff is an antiviral agent that has immunomodulating and anti-influenza action, which specifically inhibits influenza A and B viruses, severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS). It prevents contact and virus penetration into cells by inhibiting virus-induced lipid membrane fusion with the cell membranes. It has an interferon-inducing activity, stimulates humoral and cellular immune responses, macrophages phagocytic function, it also increases the organism resistance to viral infections. It reduces the complications development frequency associated with the viral infection as well as the exacerbation frequency of chronic bacterial diseases.

The therapeutic efficacy in case of viral infections occurs in reducing the severity of common intoxication and the clinical phenomena reducing the duration of a disease.

PHARMACOKINETICS

After oral administration the drug is rapidly absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract (GIT). The maximum plasma concentration when receiving a dose of 100 mg is 1.5 hours. It is rapidly distributed throughout the organs and tissues.

It is metabolized in the liver. The plasma elimination half-life is 17-21 hours. About 40% is excreted in the unchanged form, mostly with bile (38.9%) and by the kidneys in small quantities 0.12%. During the first days 90% of the administered dose is excreted.
